No.13 - The Kings Head, Woodbridge, Suffolk

Tuesday 18th August, 2009

With it being the last day of my little period off work, The Blakes decided to go visit Woodbridge, and obviously while we were there, take the opportunity to cross another Adnams pub off the list. So, after parking up down near the railway station we walked up through the town to The Kings Head, which as you'll see from the photo, looked an absolute picture in the summer sun. The Grade II listed building, which dates back to the 15th/16th century looked amazing, and has to be one of the best looking Adnams pubs I've visited so far on this 'crawl'.

We pitched up outside in front of the pub in the sun, but it was just too hot so we ventured through and grabbed a nice spot in the shade in the lovely terraced back garden. It was so quiet and peaceful, and so well kept, it was just beautiful.

We both enjoyed a nice tasty sandwich, served up by the very helpful and friendly staff, and then washed down with a couple of halves of beer. There was a huge selection available with both Regatta and Explorer on tap along with Spindrift, Broadside and Bitter. I had an Explorer with Clare enjoying a Regatta - which is now officially Clare's favourite! Looking around inside the pub there were plenty of signs that this pub is for serious Beer drinkers.
Above the bar you could see that Adnams is definitely a favourite in here.

Once we were all finished with The Kings Head, we took a stroll down Market Hill to visit the Adnams shop. There are a few dotted around the region, but with the exception of the Southwold branch this is the closest to where we live. Yes, there were a couple of purchases !!
All in all it had been a great week with 4 or 5 pubs visited and added to this Blog. However for some, it had all just been a little bit too much !!
